What is Moving Meditation?

Tai Chi is often called ‘Moving Meditation’. Because of the coordination between the lower and upper body, completing the movements smoothly and slowly, the complexity of the movements, the coordination of the breathing with the movements and remembering the sequence of the movements essentially requires the Tai Chi player to focus the attention in the present moment. Extemporaneous thoughts frequently disrupts the successful completion of the movements. In order to be successful all attention must be on the present moment, which is the goal of meditation, to be completely in the present.
